Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Thetford Design ("we", "us") collects and uses your personal information when you visit thetforddesign.com or buy from us. We are the data controller for that information. You can contact us about anything in this policy at aidan.c.murphy@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Order details: your name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number if you give one, and what you ordered.
- Payment information: payments are handled by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments and PayPal). We never see or store your full card details.
- Account details: if you create an account, your login email and order history.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
- Marketing preferences: your email address if you sign up to our newsletter.
- Browsing data: your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you view, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
How we use it and our legal basis
- To take payment, deliver your order and handle returns and warranty claims (performance of our contract with you).
- To keep order and tax records (legal obligation).
- To answer your questions, prevent fraud and understand how the site is used so we can improve it (our legitimate interests).
- To send you our newsletter and offers, only if you've signed up (your consent). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with the companies that help us run the shop:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders.
- Payment providers, to take payment and prevent fraud.
- Delivery companies, to get your order to you.
- Email and other service providers that work on our behalf.
We don't sell your personal information. We may disclose it where the law requires us to.
International transfers
Some of our service providers, including Shopify, process data outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as the law requires. We keep newsletter sign-ups until you unsubscribe, and enquiries for as long as needed to deal with them.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, such as remembering what's in your cart, and cookies that help us understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site, including checkout, from working.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal information;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it;
- ask for it in a portable format;
- withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
To use any of these rights, email aidan.c.murphy@gmail.com. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
